I want people to know they are not alone. Each person's experience is unique, but millions of other people are having similar things happen to them. Having a family member with Alzheimer's Disease is very difficult. They will forget things, so you may need to physically help them with things but the hardest part is the emotional side. From personal experience I know that you may start grieving your family member way before they are truly gone. This is because you are losing them. They may physically still be themselves, but they are going through so many intense emotions and confusion that they definitely will not seem like the same person at all. There is so much pain that the family goes through, and its not always easy to get support. Sometimes it's too hard to say what you are going through out loud. I hope to provide support for family members who have a loved one diagnosed with Alzheimer's. My hope is that it will be helpful to go to a website where you can look at and listen to people that have gone through this pain and hear their experiences. Knowing that you are not alone can be very helpful. These people have real experiences and real emotions. I can speak honestly on behalf of everyone on this website saying that they want to help as many people as possible.
